ART EXHIBITION CALLED THOUGHT 2

danpownz 16/10/2007, 5:13 PM

There is a fantastic art exhibition called THOUGHT 2 at St Margarets Church on St Benedicts Street in Norwich. It finishes this Friday - 19th October. Open from 10am approx to 5.30pm and occasionally 6pm (if good weather).

It is a very unusual mix - with elaborate forged steel sculptures dominating the main space - some of which are painted. One of them is called Andromeda's Kiss and is amazing!! The more you look the more you admire the craftsmanhip.

And there's a large digital print (with a soundtrack) called Blitz on the side wall as well as a funny piece called The Lost Generals which features unidentified photos of U.S. Civil War generals who have acquired new indentities... but I won't spoil the joke ...just go along - it has to be seen to be believed. There is also an object called the Jungly Barry Icon - but you have to read the folder next to it for the context.

At the back of the church are very interestingly textured words and digital images as well as an artist's handmade book. And on amonitor you can click and read a thing called  ... babies poem... In the next space are giant photocopies of prints on the walls and also surrounding a specially constructed booth.

Virtually everyone who goes in to the exhibition comes out smiling and saying it's the best group show they've seen in the church...and in Norwich itself, for a while. It's a MUST SEE SHOW but HURRY HURRY - it ends THIS FRIDAY.

Nearly all the works are for sale too!!

- Rembrandt
