Recess
Since recess I’ve been catching up with things in the constituency. Firstly, meeting Police Community Support Officers in Sprowston. We had a very frank discussion about Sprowston, Thorpe St Andrew, and Old Catton and the problems that are faced by residents in those areas. It was refreshing to talk to people who are totally committed to community policing and helping to resolve several problems. Also, Taverham officers came and told us about the problems they are facing in their patch. The problems aren’t particularly kids but just a general anti-social behaviour situation. The PCSOs are amazingly dedicated people who handle a whole range of sensitive and complex issues in a delicate way.
The safer neighbourhoods scheme will be up and running in September and I’m really hopeful that things will get even better from then.
I’ve also been around Old Catton to the cemetery and recreation areas, and also saw how the Parish Council are trying to improve sports facilities. I am supporting their application and urge others to do the same. Go to www.broadland.gov.uk and search for planning application number 20070962 if you would like to add your comments.
Back to work now, and I look forward to updating you all again soon.
