A TV chef is putting is working on a £100,000 plus refurbishment of a Norfolk pub.
New Zealander Chris Coubrough, an award-winning chef, hotel proprietor and TV presenter, acquired the King's Head pub at Letheringsett, near Holt, following his successful refurbishment of the Crown Inn at East Rudham in west Norfolk.
Despite also cooking lunches at the Crown Hotel at Wells, he still aims to reopen the doors of the King's Head at the beginning of April in time for the busy Easter holiday trade.
He said: “This is such a wonderful building in a beautiful setting with an enclosed garden for children, and we are going to keep the play fort and have it restored.
“We have created a larger car park and we think it will prove very popular for families. It was always a family-orientated pub and won awards for this under its previous owners.”
Mr Coubrough has become a friendly, familiar face to TV viewers through three series of the popular 'Coastal Kitchen' made by the Norwich-based TV production company Imago.
He has been seen presenting the programme, meeting local food producers and cooking up their fresh produce for visitors at events ranging from the Wroxham Regatta to the Aylsham Show, and in Norfolk coastal locations.
