Whether you're splashing out on a new fragrance for the party season or nosing around for presents, there are some fabulous new scents to see you through to new year. STACIA BRIGGS looks at the best new fragrances for autumn and winter.

Tommy Hilfiger Dreaming Eau de Parfum 50ml £33.28. Inspired by the feeling of escaping into a dream, this new fragrance from Tommy Hilfiger has notes of peach, freesia, tuberose, white hibiscus, white woods and orris.

DKNY Women Energizing Eau de Toilette Limited Edition, £34. A gorgeous bottle in shades of shimmering copper and silver houses this autumnal scent - grapefruit, pomegranate nectar, fig, orange flower, mimosa, frangipani and spiced poppy make this a gorgeous scent to see you through Christmas.

ckIN2U her eau de toilette, from £24.99 at The Perfume Shop. New from Calvin Klein, this fresh, young floral fragrance has heart notes of sugar orchid, top notes of pink grapefruit fizz and a base note of neon amber. How could you resist?

Sean John Unforgiveable Woman 75ml, £34.26. An elegant blend of bergamot, Pina Colada, orange, grapefruit, neroli, pear, cassis, violet, sandalwood, patchouli, amber and vanilla, this is a creamy floral full of heat.

Harajuku Lovers Limited Edition Snow Babies in Baby, £12.50, The Perfume Shop, Chapelfield and Castle Mall. There are five gorgeous winter special edition fragrances to choose from in collectable doll bottles dressed up cosily for Christmas. Baby is a musky mix of freesia, bergamot, jasmine, white rose, vanilla and violet. Perfect for fragrance newcomers.

Avril Lavigne Black Star eau de parfum, from £17.99, The Perfume Shop, Chapelfield and Castle Mall. One for the perfume connoisseur, and on my Christmas list.

Armani Idole dArmani eau de parfum, from £34.50, The Perfume Shop, Chapelfield and Castle Mall. A sexy, seductive designer fragrance with notes of jasmine, saffron, ginger, pear and oriental woods. Spicy and intoxicating.

Tom Ford White Patchouli and Black Orchid Touch Point Perfumes, £29.36 each, available from spacenk.co.uk. Two modern classics in handy handbag sizes, choose from White Patchouli, a unique blend of patchouli, peony, bergamot, jasmine, rose and amber or Black Orchid, a dramatic fragrance with black truffle, ylang ylang, bergamot, blackcurrant, lotus wood, patchouli, incense, vanilla and sandalwood. Both are delicious.
