Omelettes, croques-monsieur, luscious pastries, or French-style tapas, if such a thing is not a contradiction in terms, are the stock-in-trade here.
With no music to disturb us, just the gentle chatter of the other diners, we settled in. The restaurant area has wooden beams festooned with hops. The part wood-panelled and part brick-red painted walls are covered in horse racing pictures and there's an open fire place. It's all very rural, but the crips white table cloths added a touch of elegance.
A family-run business with Belinda Cammell at the helm working in partnership with her sister Annette while her tennis-fit husband Robert - who trained with the Charles Forte Group in the glorious and free-wheeling Sixties - holds court in the kitchen.
