How watchdogs keep eye on festive frenzy
As shoppers go into a festive frenzy buying presents for friends and
family, Norfolk’s watchdogs are hard at work ensuring the products
they are purchasing are safe and legal.
Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for Norfolk Trading
Standards and already this month officers have seized hundreds of unsafe
toys from a city centre retailer.
The seizure of toys from a stall on the ground floor of The Mall came
following a complaint from a member of the public. It has now stopped
trading after it turned out the toys had no CE safety markings.
Here Trading Standards demonstrates how some of the toys, some of which
were counterfeit My Kitty products, failed to meet basic safety tests.
