Few people today have heard of the passive resisters, but a century ago they were daily news. The widespread rise in passive resistance by non-conformists to the Tory government in 1902 was in direct response to the passing of Balfour's Education Act.

A couple who celebrated their 50th anniversary on a golden jubilee break with Grand UK Holidays in the Lake District had their original wedding cake made in the old Co-op Bakery at Norwich - the holiday firm's head office!
