THIS
is it the Norwich City Dream Team to beat
all the rest, voted by Evening News readers as
the Canaries top 11 players of all time.
There
are six Englishmen, two Irishmen, two Welshmen
and one Scot seven of them full internationals.
Two of them played for the Canaries in the 1950s,
two of them as recently as the 1990s.
Topping the poll was England World Cup winner
and former City skipper Martin Peters. Seven out
of every ten voters included him in their line-up.
Behind Peters 71 per cent support in second
place was full-back Mark Bowen, with 60 per cent.
Goalkeeper Kevin Keelan, who holds the clubs
appearance record with 673 senior games, was third
with 56 per cent backing.
Steve Bruce who, along with Bowen, was
in charge of the Birmingham team which beat City
in Mays Division One play-off final
was joint fourth on 52 per cent with 60s goalscoring
hero Ron Davies.
Milk Cup-winning captain Dave Watson polled 44
per cent and former Northern Ireland World Cup
captain Martin ONeill 39 per cent.
Two members of the legendary 1959 FA Cup semi-final
team made it into the side centre-half
Barry Butler with 38 per cent and outside-left
Bobby Brennan with 29 per cent.
Full-back and former Player of the Year Ian Culverhouse
(33 per cent) and Scotland international striker
Ted MacDougall (29 per cent) complete the line
up.
In all, 140 players received votes. Those who
narrowly missed out on the final 11 include Ian
Crook (28 per cent), Ron Ashman (27 per cent)
and Chris Sutton (25 per cent). Ken Nethercott,

most support at 15 per cent.
Two entries, drawn at random from all Dream Team
votes, each win a set of three Norwich City videos
produced by Visionsport International. They are
