A fine dining restaurant has revealed it will close to the public later this month.

Brasted's is a two-AA rosette eatery in Framingham Pigot, just under four miles south of Norwich.

The 'Great Bon Viveur' John Brasted launched the firm when he opened his first restaurant in the city's St Andrews Hill in 1984.

By the late 1980s, he was catering for events across England and in 1999 he and his managing director Nick Mills opened the Brasted’s Barns wedding and party venue in Framingham Pigot.

The restaurant opened in 2004 and quickly became a renowned spot - even hosting a small private lunch party for Queen Elizabeth II in 2010.

But bosses announced this week that the restaurant will close in its current form from May 18, only operating as an events venue and offering "private dining" bookings for up to 50 people after this date.

The team will focus on managing the Caistor Hall Hotel which it purchased and started refurbishing in 2021.

The plan is to add a new 'Brasted's Brasserie' to the Caistor Hall line-up later this year to run alongside Horatio's Bistro, Bar & Terrace (open Tuesday to Sunday) and the Michelin-recognised Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall restaurant (open Wednesday to Saturday).

'Complete & Utter Brasted's', the firm's events catering branch, will also continue to run.

Managing director Nick Mills said: "The decision to close the restaurant at Framingham Pigot has been full of deliberation - regularly I walk into a bustling service and the feeling of joy is immense.

"The restaurant means so much - not just to myself, Buzz, Sian and Ashley, and also the hundreds of award-winning Brastonians that have worked in the restaurant over the last twenty-one years.

"But most importantly you, our wonderful, long-supporting guests, who have become not only great friends but who we would also consider Brastonians."

Extra lunch and dinner services will be on offer at Brasted's from Wednesday to Saturday until May 18.
